David Newman has signed on to score the upcoming comedy Night School. The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man, Undercover Brother) and stars Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Yvonne Orji, Rob Riggle, Taran Killam, Ben Schwartz, Yvonne Orji, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Keith David and Anne Winters. The movie follows a group of misfits who are forced to attend adult classes in the longshot chance they’ll pass the GED exam. Will Packer (Ride Along, Think Like a Man, Roots) is producing the project with Hart. Newman has previously collaborated with Lee on last year’s hit comedy Girls Trip, as well as the 2008 feature Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins. Night School is set to be released on September 28, 2018 by Universal Pictures.
Newman also has the Netflix original series Green Eggs and Ham coming up. The animated show is based on Dr. Seuss’ classic 1960 children’s book and centers on opposites Guy and Sam who take a road trip to save an endangered animal, learning to try new things like hope, friendship, and a certain delectable dish. Ellen DeGeneres is executive producing the project with Jared Stern (The LEGO Batman Movie, Dr. Ken), Jeff Kleeman, Mike Karz (Valentine’s Day, Killers) and David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers, The Judge). The show’s first season of 13 episodes will premiere this year on Netflix.
