Alexandra Harwood has been tapped to score the upcoming romantic drama The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The film is directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Donnie Brasco) and stars Lily James, Michiel Huisman, Glen Powell, Matthew Goode, Jessica Brown Findlay, Tom Courtenay and Penelope Wilton. The movie is based on Mary Ann Shaffer’s & Annie Barrows’ 2008 novel and follows a free-spirited journalist who forms a life-changing bond with the eccentric society when she decides to write about the book club they formed during the German occupation of Guernsey during World War II. Don Roos (Marley & Me, The Opposite of Sex) wrote the screenplay. Paula Mazur (Nim’s Island, Corrina, Corrina) & Mitchell Kaplan are producing the project with Graham Broadbent & Pete Czernin (In Bruges, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel). The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere in 2018.
As previously reported, Harwood has also recently scored the British drama The Escape starring Gemma Arterton & Dominic Cooper. The movie premiered at this year’s Toronto Film Festival and was recently picked up by IFC Films for a domestic release in 2018.
