James Newton Howard is set to reunite with director Dan Gilroy on the upcoming dramatic thriller Inner City. The film is written and directed by Gilriy and will star Denzel Washington as an attorney for a big Los Angeles law firm who discovers some unfavorable things about his late partner and decides to right his wrongs. Jennifer Fox (Michael Clayton, Syriana) is producing the project with Escape Artists’ Todd Black (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Equalizer) and Cross Creek Pictures’ Brian Oliver (Black Swan, Rush, Everest). Howard has previously scored Gilroy’s 2014 directorial debut Nightcrawler.Inner City is set to start shooting in March 2017 and will be distributed by Sony Pictures. No word yet on a release date.
Howard revealed his involvement in the project during a recent press event promoting his concert tour, where he also talked about scoring Francis Lawrence’s Red Sparrow and Lasse Hallstrom’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. He is also attached to score Jake Kasdan’s Jumanji. His latest project, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is opening nationwide this weekend.
