Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans are reteaming with director Charlie McDowell on the upcoming sci-fi drama The Discovery. The film stars Rooney Mara, Robert Redford, Jason Segel, Jesse Plemons, Riley Keough and Ron Canada. The movie is set one year after the existence of the afterlife is scientifically verified and follows the scientist responsible for the discovery and a woman haunted by a tragic past who Will falls in love with his son. McDowell has also written the screenplay with Justin Lader. Endgame Entertainment’s James Stern (Looper, I’m Not There) is producing the project with Alex Orlovsky (Blue Valentine, The Place Beyond the Pines). Bensi and Jurriaans have previously scored McDowell’s first feature The One I Love. The Discovery is set to premiere in 2017 on Netflix and in theaters.
The composer duo’s recent projects also include the drama Barry, which will premiere later this month at the Toronto Film Festival. They also have the thriller Rosy starring Nat Wolff and the Netflix documentary Amanda Knox coming up.
