David Schwartz has been hired to score the upcoming NBC comedy The Good Place. The show is created by Michael Schur (Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and stars Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, Jameela Jamil, William Jackson Harper, Manny Jacinto and D’Arcy Carden. The series follows a young woman from New Jersey who comes to realize that she hasn’t been a very good person and decides to turn over a new leaf by learning what it actually means to be “good” or “bad”. Schur is also executive producing the NBC Universal Television production with David Miner (30 Rock, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Drew Goddard (The Martian, World War Z, The Cabin in the Woods) has directed the pilot episode. Schwartz whose previous scoring credits include Arrested Development, Northern Exposure, Reaper and this year’s Lady Dynamite also has the NBC reality show Better Late Than Never coming up. The series follows actors Henry Winkler and William Shatner, football legend Terry Bradshaw, boxer George Foreman and comedian Jeff Dye as they travel to Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Hong Kong, Phuket and Chiang Mai and navigate their way through each city. Winkler is also executive producing the Universal Television production with Craig Zadan & Neil Meron, Jason Ehrlich, Stephanie Chambers, Alex Katz and Tim Crescenti.
