Benjamin Wallfisch is currently scoring the upcoming supernatural horror thriller A Cure for Wellness. The film is directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Ring) and stars Dane DeHaan, Mia Goth, Jason Isaacs and Celia Imrie. The movie follows a man who is sent to rescue his boss from a European wellness spa and soon realizes that he’s trapped and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the healthy needs of it patients. Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road, The Lone Ranger) has written the screenplay. Verbinski is also producing the project with David Crockett and Arnon Milchan (12 Years a Slave, The Revenant, Gone Girl) for New Regency Pictures. Hans Zimmer who scored Verbinski’s last couple of films, including The Lone Ranger, Rango and the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy was originally attached to score the film. A Cure for Wellness is set to be released on February 17, 2017 by 20th Century Fox.
Wallfisch has previously collaborated with Zimmer as an additional music composer on 12 Years a Slave, The Little Prince and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The composer whose previous scoring credits also include The Escapist, Desert Dancer and Hammer of the Gods also has the horror thriller Lights Out starring Teresa Palmer coming up. The film will be released nationwide on July 22 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Wallfisch’s other upcoming projects also include the drama Bitter Harvest starring Max Irons & Samantha Barks and the James Wan-produced horror thriller Within.
