Joey Stephens is reuniting with Jody Hill & Danny McBride and will compose the music for the upcoming HBO original series Vice Principals. The show is created by Hill and McBride who also stars in the comedy alongside Walter Goggins, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Georgia King, Busy Philipps, Shea Whigham and Sheaun McKinney. The series, which has been ordered for two seasons with 18 episodes, tells the story of a high school and the people who almost run it, the vice principals. McBride and Hill are also executive producing the project with Stephanie Laing and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, All the Real Girls, George Washington) who also directed the pilot episode. Stephens has previously scored Hill’s feature Observe and Report, as well as numerous episodes of HBO’s Eastbound and Down. Vice Principals will premiere later this year on HBO.

At the end of the first episode they played “Be True to Your School”. To my 70 year old ears it sounded like the real deal-The Beach Boys with The Honeys doing the Cheer Leaders parts. Is it true? or was it a good sound-alike? Thanks
