Max Richter has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi thriller Morgan. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Ridley Scott’s son Luke and stars Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Paul Giamatti, Toby Jones and Boyd Holbrook. The movie follows a corporate risk-management consultant who is summoned to a remote research lab to determine whether or not to terminate a genetically-engineered being. Seth W. Owen has written the Black List-honored screenplay for the Fox production. Ridley Scott is producing the project with Michael Schaefer (The Martian, Exodus: Gods and Kings) and Elishia Holmes. Morgan is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2016.
Richter’s recent projects also include the second season of HBO’s The Leftovers, which currently airs every Sunday night. The composer also scored the sci-fi drama Into the Forest starring Ellen Page & Evan Rachel Wood. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September and was picked up by A24 for a domestic release in 2016.
