Mark Isham is composing the music for the upcoming drama Papa. The film is directed by Bob Yari (producer of The Illusionist, Hostage and The Painted Veil) and stars Giovanni Ribisi, Adrian Sparks, Joely Richardson, James Remar and Minka Kelly. The movie follows an American journalist who travels to Cuba in 1959, on a mission to meet his idol, the legendary Ernest Hemingway. Denne Bart Petitclerc has written the screenplay based on his own experience. Yari is also producing the project, which marks the first Hollywood production that was shot in Cuba in over 45 years. Isham has previously scored the Academy Award-winning drama Crash and the TV series based on the feature produced by Yari. Papa is expected to premiere later this year.
Isham’s other upcoming film projects include Gavin O’Connor’s The Accountant starring Ben Affleck, Septembers of Shiraz starring Salma Hayek & Adrian Brody, Scott Hick’s fantasy romance Fallen, the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride and Stephen Herek’s The Great Gilly Hopkins starring Sophie Nelisse & Glenn Close. The composer is also scoring ABC’s Once Upon a Time and American Crime.
Looks like Isham is going to be a very busy man.
