James S. Levine is scoring the new NBC cop drama Ironside. The show created by Michael Caleo (The Family, Rescue Me, The Sopranos) is a remake of the classic Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-nominated drama starring Raymond Burr, which aired from 1967 to 1975 and featured a theme by Quincy Jones. The series stars Blair Underwood in the title role as a tough detective who is relegated to a wheelchair after a shooting but continues to pursue difficult cases. Brent Sexton, Pablo Schreiber, Spencer Grammer, Neal Bledsoe and Kenneth Choi are co-starring. Caleo is also executive producing the Universal Television, Yellow Brick Road Productions and Davis Entertainment production with Teri Weinberg (Ugly Betty, The Tudors), John Davis (Predator series, Waterworld, I Robot), John Fox, Ron West (Man Up) and David Semel (No Ordinary Family). Peter Horton (Grey’s Anatomy) has directed the pilot episode. Ironside is set to premiere on October 2, 2013 and will air every Wednesday night on NBC. Levine also continues to score the Fox hit musical show Glee (entering its fifth season), TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles (currently in its fourth season) and TNT’s Major Crimes (currently airing its second season). The composer is also returning to provide the music for the third season of American Horror Story: Coven.
