Nick Urata is scoring the upcoming indie teen comedy Premature. The film is directed by Dan Beers and stars John Karna as a teenager who is poised to finally lose his virginity, but when things go wrong, he inexplicably finds himself having to relive the same day over and over again until he gets it right. Katie Findlay, Alan Tudyk, Craig Roberts, Adam Riegler and Carlson Young are co-starring. Beers has co-written the screenplay with Mathew Harawitz. Aaron Ryder (The Prestige, The Raven) and Karen Lunder (Sleepover) are producing the FilmNation Entertainment production. Premature is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
Urata (Ruby Sparks, Crazy Stupid Love, Little Miss Sunshine) has also scored the comedy A.C.O.D. starring Adam Scott, Amy Poehler, Richard Jenkins, Catherine O’Hara and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, which is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. The composer has also written the music for What Maisie Knew starring Julianne Moore and Alexander Skarsgard and Arthur Newman starring Colin Firth and Emily Blunt. Both films premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year and have been picked by US distributors for a release later this year.
