Gabriel Yared has been hired to score the romantic thriller Therese Raquin. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Charlie Stratton and stars Elizabeth Olsen, Jessica Lange and Tom Felton. The movie is based on a novel by Emile Zala and follows a sexually repressed woman who is trapped in a loveless marriage to her cousin who has an affair with her husband’s childhood friend. The story takes place in 1860s Paris. William Horberg and Mickey Liddell (The Grey, Everwood) are producing the Wonderful Films and Liddell Entertainment production. Yared has previously collaborated with Horberg on Anthony Minghella’s The Talented Mr. Ripley and Cold Mountain. LD Distribution has domestic distribution rights for Therese Raquin and is expected to release the thriller in 2013.
Yared’s other upcoming films include Belle du Seigneur starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Zentropa’s A Royal Affair, which has already opened in several international markets and is currently awaiting a domestic release.
