Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for Richard Linklater’s indie comedy drama Bernie. The album features the film’s original score composed by Graham Reynolds (A Scanner Darkly), as well as a number of songs performed by lead actor Jack Black. Also included are songs by Dale Watson, Heybale!, Mitote and Miss Leslie. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 15, 2012 and physically on June 12. The CD version is available for pre-order on Amazon. Bernie stars Black as a mortician in a small-town in Texas who strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow. Shirley MacLaine and Matthew McConaughey are co-starring. The film opened last weekend in select cities and had the highest per-screen average on the weekend box office.
