Lucas Vidal has signed on to score the upcoming thriller The Raven. The film is a fictionalized account of the final days of Edgar Allan Poe as he tracks a serial killer whose crimes mirror works by the famous author. The movie stars John Cusack, Alice Eve, Luke Evans, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen. The project marks the second high profile scoring assignment this year for the quickly rising composer after the thriller The Cold Light of Day starring Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver, which Vidal has coming up later this year. The Raven is directed by James McTeigue who previously worked with composers Dario Marianelli on V for Vendetta and Ilan Eshkeri on Ninja Assassin. Relativity Media has acquired domestic rights for the film, but no release date has been set yet.

Vidal also recently recorded his score for the Spanish horror thriller Sleep Tight (aka Mientras duermes). The film is directed by Jaume Balgueró who is best known for helming the horror thrillers [Rec] and [Rec] 2. The movie starring Luis Tosar, Marta Etura and Alberto San Juan centers on the life of a simple man who works as doorman by day, while moonlighting as a stalker in the evening. Mientras duermes is set for a release date on October 7, 2011 in Spain.
