Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1972 psychological horror drama Images directed by Robert Altman and starring Susannah York, René Auberjonois, Marcel Bozzuffi and Cathryn Harrison. The album features the remastered Academy Award-nominated original score from the film composed and conducted by John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial) and percussion by Japanese experimental musician Stomu Yamash’ta. The CD, which marks the first official release of the score approved by the composer himself, is limited to 2,000 copies and is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also find out more details and check out audio samples.

Gerald Busby has written the film’s score, which features performances from flautist Michael Parloff and a host of other talented musicians selected by composer John Williams for their ability to perform contemporary music. Wave Theory Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1977 drama 3 Women directed by Robert Altman and starring Shelley Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Janice Rule. The album features the original country music from the movie were written by Altman’s long-time associate and friend, Allan Nicholls, alongside the film’s music editor, Tom Walls, and songwriter Jeff Wilson and performed by the Desert Centre Country Band and supporting vocal performances from Vince Gill, Marti Gwynn, Jo Ann Harris, Janis Oliver, John Considine and Nicholls himself. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, October 23. The streaming/download link will be added to this article later this week.
