Trent Reznor has announced on Twitter that he is reuniting with composer Atticus Ross to score David Fincher’s upcoming thriller Gone Girl. The film is based on the bestselling novel by Gillian Flynn and stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Carrie Coon. The movie follows a woman who disappears on the day of her fifth wedding anniversary. Flynn has also written the screenplay and Fincher is producing the project with Pacific Standard’s Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea (Warm Bodies, All Good Things). Reznor and Ross have previously written the music for Fincher’s The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and received an Academy Award for their work on the former project.

Jeff Beal to Score David Fincher’s ‘House of Cards’
Jeff Beal has signed on to composer the score for David Fincher’s highly anticipated Netflix original series House of Cards. The show starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright follows an ambitious politician with his eye on the top job. The political thriller based on the book and BBC mini-series of the same name, which explored the ruthless underside of British politics at the end of the Thatcher era, has been reset against the backdrop of modern-day U.S. electoral politics. Kate Mara, Kristen Connolly, Corey Stoll and Constance Zimmer are co-starring. Beau Willimon (The Ides of March) has written the show’s pilot. Fincher is directing the first two episodes and serves as an executive producer of the Media Rights Capital production alongside Josh Donen (Spartacus: Blood and Sand), Academy Award-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), as well as Kevin Spacey and Dana Brunetti of Trigger Street Productions (The Social Network, 21). House of Cards reunites Beal with producer John Melfi, a prior collaborator as an executive producer on HBO’s Rome.

‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ Soundtrack Details
Null Records has announced the details of the soundtrack for David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The album features the original score from the movie by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, as well as Reznor’s and Karen O’s cover of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 9, 2011 (visit iTunes to pre-order the album) and later in the month as a 3-CD set, which is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As reported last weekend, Trent Reznor has started work on the score for David Fincher’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. We have learned since that Reznor has re-teamed with Atticus Ross, his co-composer on The Social Network. The project marks Ross’ third major film score after The Social Network and Book of Eli in the previous year. According to a New York Times livestream interview (via Slashfilm), Trent Reznor has announced that he will be scoring David Fincher’s upcoming adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The movie stars Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgard and Joely Richardson. The film is based on the bestselling novel by Stieg Larsson, which has been adapted for the screen in a 2009 Swedish movie with the same title and has been released domestically last year with Noomi Rampace’s lead performance receiving lots of positive critical notices. Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List, American Gangster) is adapting Larsson’s novel for the David Fincher movie. Trent Reznor has been receiving a lot of attention for his score on last year’s The Social Network (including a Golden Globe nomination), which is being re-released in theaters this weekend.
