Frederik Wiedmann (The Dragon Prince, Occupation: Rainfall, Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Field of Lost Shoes, Doom: Annihilation) is currently scoring the upcoming horror thriller The Refuge. The film is directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger) and stars Jason Flemyng, Raza Jaffrey, Sophie Simnett, Johanna Harlin and Aston McAuley. The movie centers on a US military veteran who returns home a changed and dangerous man after a tour of duty in Afghanistan where he suffered an attack by a mysterious force, when his wife discovers that her husband has been possessed by a malevolent spirit. Ben Sztajnkrycer wrote the screenplay. Harlin is also producing the project with Yariv Lerner (Rambo: Last Blood, Hellboy), Rob Van Norden (The Protege, Jolt), Revelations Entertainment’s Gary Lucchesi (Underworld, The Exorcism of Emily Rose), Michael McKay and Lori McCreary (Invictus, Madam Secretary). Wiedmann has previously scored the Lerner-produced 2017 thriller Acts of Vengeance. The Refuge is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2023.
Wiedmann’s other upcoming feature projects include the fantasy adventure Boys of Summer directed by David Henrie and starring Mason Thames, Mel Gibson. The movie follows a boy who – after his best friend mysteriously disappears – begins to suspect that a supernatural entity may be hunting the children of Martha’s Vineyard. Cornelius Uliano and Bryan Schulz (The Peanuts Movie) wrote the screenplay and Mark Fasano (Haunt) & James Henrie (This Is the Year) are producing the project. No release date has been announced yet for the film.
