Anne Nikitin (American Animals, The Dropout, Fate: The Winx Saga, Mrs. Wilson, Lost Girls) has started recording her score for the upcoming Starz original series Dangerous Liaisons. The show is created by Harriet Warner (Tell Me Your Secrets) and stars Alice Englert, Nicholas Denton, Lesley Manville, Carice van Houten, Paloma Faith, Michael McElhatton, Kosar Ali, Nathanael Saleh, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Hilton Pelser, Mia Threapleton, Colette Dalal Tchantcho, Lucy Cohu, Fisayo Akinade, Maria Friedman and Clare Higgins. The drama is based on Laclos’ classic 18th century novel and tells the origin story of how the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont meet as passionate young lovers in Paris on the eve of revolution. Warner is also producing the project with Playground’s Colin Callender (Wolf Hall, The White Queen), Flame Ventures’ Tony Krantz (Outer Range, Wu Assassins), as well as Bethan Jones (Sherlock, Les Misérables), Scott Huff (The Missing, Howards End) and Christopher Hampton (The Father, Atonement) who previously adapted the source material for the 1988 feature of the same title (scored by George Fenton). Leonora Lonsdale who previously helmed the Nikitin-scored The Pale Horse has directed the first four episodes. The composer is recording her orchestral score at AIR Studios in London. Dangerous Liaisons is expected to premiere in late 2022 on Starz.
Also coming up for Nikitin is Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s thriller ISS and the Netflix documentary The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes (premiering tomorrow).
