Tom Howe (Early Man, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, Charming, Professor Marston & the Wonder Women) is the composer of the new HBO Max original series Head of the Class. The show is based on the 1980s sitcom of the same title created by Rich Eustis & Michael Elias (scored by Ed Alton) and stars Isabella Gomez, Jorge Diaz, Jolie Hoang Rappaport, Gavin Lewis, Brandon Severs, Dior Goodjohn, Adrian Matthew Escalona and Katie Beth Hall. The comedy revolves around a group of overachieving high school students who meet a teacher who wants them to focus less on grades and more on experiencing life. Bill Lawrence (Scrubs) is executive producing the Warner Bros. Television production with showrunner Amy Pocha, as well as Seth Cohen, Jeff Ingold, Phill Lewis and Bill Callahan (Psych, The Goldbergs). Howe has previously co-scored the first two seasons of Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso (with Marcus Mumford) and ABC’s Whiskey Cavalier (with Harry Gregson-Williams) for the producers. Head of the Class will premiere this Thursday, November 4, exclusively on HBO Max.
