Ali Shaheed Muhammad & Adrian Younge (Luke Cage, Run This Town) have composed the original score for the upcoming coming-of-age drama Boogie. The film marks the feature directorial debut of writer, producer and restaurateur Eddie Huang (Fresh Off the Boat) and stars Taylor Takahashi, Taylour Paige, Pamelyn Chee, Mike Moh, Alexa Mareka, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Perry Yung, as well as Pop Smoke who is also contributing music to the project. The movie tells the story of a basketball phenom living in Queens, New York, who dreams of one day playing in the NBA and must find a way to navigate a new girlfriend, high school, on-court rivals and the burden of expectation. Huang also wrote the screenplay. Josh Bratman, Josh McLaughlin and Michael Tadross (Die Hard with a Vengeance, Gangster Squad) are producing the Immersive Pictures production. Boogie will be released in theaters nationwide on March 5, 2021 by Focus Features.
