Composer Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids, Bad Teacher, Funny People, Freaks & Geeks, Instant Family) is reuniting with director Michael Showalter on the upcoming romantic comedy The Lovebirds. The film starring Issa Rae, Kumail Nanjiani, Kelly Murtaugh, Moses Storm and Betsy Borrego centers on couple on the brink of breaking up who get unintentionally embroiled in a bizarre murder mystery. Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall & Martin Gero (Blindspot) wrote the screenplay. Gero is also producing the project with Tom Lassally (Edge of Tomorrow), Oly Obst (The Resident, The Invention of Lying), Todd Schulman (The Dictator, The Brothers Grimsby) and Jordana Mollic (Life Partners). Andrews has previously collaborated with Showalter (Hello, My Name Is Doris) on his last feature directorial effort, The Big Sick. The Lovebirds is set to be released in theaters nationwide on April 3, 2020 by Paramount Pictures.
