Sony Classical will be releasing the soundtrack for David Cronenberg’s new thriller A Dangerous Method. The album features the original score from the movie by composer Howard Shore, as well as Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll performed by Lang Lang. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on September 16, 2011. A release in the US is expected closer to the movie’s domestic opening in LA and New York on November 23. (UPDATE, November 2011): The album is now scheduled for a domestic release on November 21 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. A Dangerous Method starring Viggo Mortensen, Keira Knightley, Michael Fassbender and Vincent Cassell chronicles the intense relationship between Carl Jung and Sigmund Freud and the birth of psychoanalyis. Absolutely breathtaking. I can’t believe Shore is still producing such beautiful work after what seemed like he poured everything into the Lord of the Rings. He is truly one of a kind. Unbelievable.
