Kurt Farquhar has announced that he will be scoring the new CBS comedy pilot Welcome to the Neighborhood. The show is created by Jim Reynolds (The Big Bang Theory), directed by James Burrows (Will & Grace) and stars Josh Lawson, Tichina Arnold, Cedric the Entertainer, Christian Camargo, Sheaun McKinney and Marcel Spears. The pilot follows the nicest guy in the Midwest, who moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness. Reynolds is also executive producing the project with Aaron Kaplan (The Chi, Life in Pieces), Dana Honor & Wendi Trilling (9KL), Cedric and Eric Rhone (Code Name: The Cleaner, The Honeymooners). CBS is expected to announce in May whether the comedy will be picked up to series.
Farquhar also continues to score the CW’s Black Lightning, which currently airs Tuesday nights, BET’s The Quad, which airs every Thursday night and Being Mary Jane, which will return for its fifth season later this year. He is also composing the music for the new BET original series In Contempt created by Terri Kopp and starring Erica Ash, Christian Keys, Megan Hutchings, Mouna Traoré, Ronnie Rowe Jr., Richard Lawson and Tobias Truvillion. The show centers on an opinionated and outspoken attorney whose passion for her job and clients makes her arguably the most talented public defender in her district.
