Mac Quayle and Todd Haberman are scoring the new Fox drama 9-1-1. The show is created by Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk (Glee, Nip/Tuck, American Crime Story) and stars Peter Krause, Connie Britton, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi and Rockmond Dunbar. The series is based on the real-life, high-pressure experiences of emergency response providers – cops, paramedics, firefighters – who must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. Murphy & Falchuk are executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television Tim Minear (Feud, Angel). 9-1-1 is premiering tonight and will air Wednesday nights on Fox. Visit the official show website for updates.
Quayle also has FX’s Murphy-produced The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (premiering on January 17) coming up and continues to score USA’s Mr. Robot and FX’s American Horror Story. Haberman’s previous scoring credits include Netflix’s Hemlock Grove, and movies such as The Charnel House, Satanic and Bad Ass.
I only watched more episodes of Godless because the music score was so compelling. The music told the emotional and human story better than the action scenes did.I researched several episodes to experience the musical storytelling. Even the choices of instruments was
so appropriate to the emotional journeys of the characters that I was mesmerized.I have been so curious
as how the composer came up with the melodic themes that told a story more powerful than the acting alone could convey. The landscape coupled with the music created a dramatic human story that is impossible to forget.I was reluctant to watch a series filled with such graphic violence, but the musical score drew me in.The story alone would have been merely okay, without the dramatic and moving music that underscored the human drama.
