Jon Ekstrand is reteaming with director Daniel Espinosa on the upcoming sci-fi thriller Life. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds, Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare and Hiroyuki Sanada. The movie follows the crew of the International Space Station, who, after retrieving a sample from Mars, discover that it displays signs of life, and proves to be more intelligent than expected. Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) have written the screenplay. David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation, Terminator Genisys) are producing the Skydance production with Bonnie Curtis (Minority Report, A.I. Artificial Intelligence) and Julie Lynn (Albert Nobbs, Mother and Child). Ekstrand has previously collaborated with Espinosa (Safe House) on the features Easy Money, Child 44, Babylonsjukan and Outside Love. Life is set to be released on May 26, 2017 by Sony Pictures.
