Christopher Lennertz has been hired to score the upcoming animated feature Smurfs: The Lost Village. The film is directed by Kelly Asbury (Shrek 2, Gnomeo & Juliet) and features the voice talent of Demi Lovato, Rainn Wilson, Mandy Patinkin, Joe Manganiello, Jack McBrayer and Danny Pudi. The movie follows Smurfette and her brothers Hefty, Clumsy and Brainy trekking through the uncharted Enchanted Forest to try and discover a fabled Smurfs village. Jordan Kerner (Charlotte’s Web, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Mighty Ducks) is producing the Sony Pictures Animation production. Raja Gosnell who helmed Sony’s two live action/CGI features (scored by Heitor Pereira) serves as an executive producer on the project. Lennertz has previously scored the studio’s animated shorts The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol and The Legend of Smurfy Hollow. Smurfs: The Lost Village is set to be released on April 7, 2017 by Sony Pictures.
Lennertz’s upcoming projects also include the action comedy Baywatch and the virtual reality series Invisible.
