Cliff Martinez has signed on to score James Mangold’s currently untitled Wolverine sequel. The film stars Hugh Jackman in the title role and will mark his final appearance as the character. Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal are co-starring. No plot details have been announced yet. David James Kelly has written the screenplay. Simon Kinberg (X-Men:Days of Future Past & Apocalypse, The Martian, Cinderella) is producing the project with Lauren Shuler Donner (X-Men series, Deadpool, Constantine). Harry Gregson-Williams scored Gavin Hood’s 2009 first Wolverine movie, while Marco Beltrami composed the music for 2013’s The Wolverine directed by Mangold. The untitled third Wolverine film is set to be released on March 3, 2017 by 20th Century Fox.
Martinez’s latest project, The Neon Demon, is currently in playing in theaters nationwide. The composer also has Todd Phillips’ comedy War Dogs starring Miles Teller & Jonah Hill, as well as Martin Campbell’s The Foreigner starring Pierce Brosnan & Jackie Chan coming up.
It’ll be interesting to see Martinez scoring a blockbuster like this.
But… what happened to Beltami? He had scored all the director’s previous movies, including The Wolverine, which had a pretty good score by the way.
hopefully hes stuck in a closet somewhere
