Johann Johannsson is reuniting with director James Marsh on the upcoming drama Deep Water. The film stars Colin Firth as fated amateur yachtsman Donald Crowhurst, alongside Rachel Weisz, David Thewlis, Ken Stott, and Jonathan Bailey. The movie chronicles Crowhurst’s attempt to complete the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race in 1968 and his subsequent attempts to cover up his failure. Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, Contagion) has written the screenplay and is also producing the project with Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, In Bruges). Johannsson has previously collaborated with Marsh on 2013’s Theory of Everything, for which the composer received the Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination. Deep Water is currently in post-production and is expected to premiere later this year.
As previously reported, Johannsson also has Denis Villeneuve’s Story of Your Life starring Amy Adams & Jeremy Renner coming up.
