This morning, the nominations for the 88th Academy Awards were announced. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2015 will be presented on Oscar Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® and televised live on the ABC Television Network. Here are the music-related nominations:

• The Hateful Eight – Ennio Morricone
• Sicario – Johann Johannsson
• Star Wars: The Force Awakens– John Williams

Best Original Song:

Carter Burwell was nominated for the first time, while Johann Johannsson received his second Academy Award nomination. John Williams was honored with his 50th Oscar nomination, Ennio Morricone received his sixth nomination and Thomas Newman was nominated for the 13th time.
