Robert Duncan has signed on to score the upcoming ABC drama The Family. The show is created by Jenna Bans (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal) and stars Joan Allen, Allison Pill, Margot Bingham, Zach Gilford, Liam James, Floriana Lima, Madeleine Arthur, Rarmian Newton, Rupert Graves and Andrew McCarthy. The series centers around the return of a politician’s young son who was presumed dead after disappearing over a decade earlier and suspicions emerge if he really is who he says he is. Bans is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with Mandeville Television’s David Hoberman (Monk) & Todd Lieberman (The Proposal, The Fighter, Monk, Warm Bodies) and Laurie Zaks (Castle). Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Push, Victor Frankenstein) has directed the pilot episode. The Family is expected to premiere in early 2016 on ABC. The composer also continues to score ABC’s Castle, which will return for a eighth season on September 21, 2015. He is also scoring ABC’s The Whispers, which currently airs Monday nights on ABC and is set to return for the second season of Bravo’s Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce, which is expected to air in 2016. Duncan also composed the music for the Amazon pilot Mad Dogs produced by Shawn Ryan and starring Steve Zahn, Billy Zane, Romany Malco, Michael Imperioli and Ben Chaplin. The comedy has been picked up for a full season and is expected to premiere later this year.
