Dhani Harrison and Paul Hicks are composing the score for the upcoming indie drama Learning to Drive. The film directed by Isabel Coixet (Elegy, The Secret Life of Words) and stars Ben Kingsley & Patricia Clarkson. The movie follows a Manhattan writer who finds solace in her biweekly lessons with a Sikh driving instructor after her husband leaves her. Sarah Kernochan (Sommersby, Nine 1/2 Weeks) has written the screenplay based on Katha Pollitt’s 2002 essay for The New Yorker. Dana Friedman and Daniel Hammond are producing the Broad Green Pictures production. Academy Award winner Thelma Schoonmaker (The Departed, The Aviator, Raging Bull) serves as the film’s editor. Harrison’s and Hicks’ previous scoring credits as part of the alternative rock band thenewno2 include the feature Beautiful Creatures and the WE tv series The Divide. Learning to Drive is set to premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.
