Columbia Records and Madison Gate Records will release the official soundtrack album for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The soundtrack features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer and the Magnificent Six. The composer has created a super band for the project that features Pharrell Williams, Johnny Marr (of The Smiths, Modest Mouse), Michael Einziger (of Incubus), Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski and Steve Mazzaro. Also included is the original song It’s On Again by Alicia Keys featuring Kendrick Lamar, written Williams, Keys, Zimmer & Lamar. Also featured on the album are new songs by Williams, The Neighbourhood, LIZ and Alvin Risk, as well as Phosphorescent’s Song for Zula. The soundtrack will be released on April 22, 2014. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan will be released nationwide on May 2. So boring…
difficult to pass after Horner, but I’m curious to hear that
I’m really starting to fear an album containing 20min of score and 40min of songs & remixes.
A clutter of songs to hide the fact that only some of the score will placed due to hazy credit issues…
… not really excited about this. Stupid thing not to keep James Horner and with so many songs included this Spider-Man will have no musical identity. At least Christopher Young kept Spdey’s theme and other main cues when he replaced Danny Elfman. Very, very doubtful that Zimmer will at least hint at Horner’s cues
I really don’t know why replace James Horner, one of the greatest film music composers of the last decades, by a bunch of DJs and people with minimal knownledge of how to score a movie. As for Zimmer, I think that he ended composing almost nothing of the score, leaving the hard job for his protegées.
Horner is (supposedly) tired of scoring huge blockbuster scores . And director Marc Webb initially wanted Hans all along. Apart from the upcoming ‘Wolf Totem’ Horner will be involved in all things Pandora to see the decade out.
