Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the sci-fi sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. The album features the film’s original score composed by Michael Giacchino. The soundtrack will be released physically on May 28, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital release is expected the week of the film’s opening in the U.S. Audio clips are available after the jump. Star Trek Into Darkness is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Weller. The movie follows the Enterprise crew as they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization that has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for. That’s the only problem with Varese’s representation of Giacchino’s ‘Star Trek’ scores: The limp running time. No doubt – as with the first – we will recieve a Deluxe Edition at some point.
