This week, Paul Englisby has recorded his score for the film adaptation of the stage musical Sunshine on Leith. The movie is directed by Dexter Fletcher (Wild Bill) and stars Peter Mullan, Jane Horrocks, George McKay, Kevin Guthrie, Antonia Thomas and Freya Mavor. Stephen Greenhorn has written screenplay based on his musical, which takes the lyrics of songs from the Scottish pop-folk band The Proclaimers and uses them in story about a young man and a woman who have to re-learn how to live life in Edinburgh after coming home from serving in Afghanistan. Andrew Macdonald (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later) & Allon Reich (Dredd, Never Let Me Go) are producing the project for DNA Films and Arabella Page Croft & Kieran Parker (Outpost, Legacy) are producing for Black Camel Pictures. Sunshine on Leith is currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year in the UK.
