John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, The Jungle Book, Hocus Pocus, The Emperor’s New Groove, Iron Man 2, Liar Liar, The Princess Diaries, Horizon: An American Saga) has composed the original score for the upcoming biblical drama Zero A. D.: The Birth of Christ. The film is directed by Alejandro Monteverde (Sound of Freedom, Cabrini) and stars Deva Cassel, Sam Worthington, Ben Mendelsohn, Gael García Bernal and Jim Caviezel. The movie follows a young Mary who will do anything to protect her newborn son from the murderous King Herod who is obsessed with finding and killing the child. .Leo Severino & Eduardo Verástegui (Little Boy) are producing the 2521 Entertainment & Metanoia Films production. Zero A. D.: The Birth of Christ will be released in theaters nationwide on December 11, 2026 by Angel (Studios).
As previously reported, Debney also has Adam Shankman’s The Man with the Bag (to premiere this holiday season on Prime Video) and Jon Favreau’s Disney+ series Oswald (to premiere in early 2027) coming up. He also recently co-scored TNT’s High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam, which just premiered earlier this month.
