Bryce Dessner (of The National) (Train Dreams, The Two Popes, Sing Sing, We Live in Time, Cyrano, The Accountant 2, Bardo, She Came to Me, Manhunt, A Good Person, Widow Cliquot) has recently composed the original music for the new Netflix limited series Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story. The show is created by Ian Brennan (Glee, Hollywood) and stars Ella Beatty, Vicky Krieps, Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Joey Pollari, Jessica Barden, Billie Lourd and Sarah Paulson. The fourth installment of the Monster anthology series (following 2022’s The Jeffrey Dahmer Story scored by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, 2024’s The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story scored by Thomas & Julia Newman and last year’s The Ed Gein Story scored by Mac Quayle) explores the case of Lizzie Borden who – trapped in a cruel Victorian-era household – kills her parents in a gory ax murder that shocks the nation.Brennan is also executive producing the project with Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story, Nip/Tuck), Eric Kovtun & Scott Robertson (Feud, Grotesquerie), Louise Shore, Nissa Diederich (All’s Fair, The Beauty), Todd Kubrak, Carl Franklin (Devil in a Blue Dress, Out of Time), Tanase Popa (The Shards), as well as Max Winkler (Flower, Jungleland) who also directed six of the eight episodes. Dessner has previously scored this year’s Murphy-produced FX limited series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette. Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story will premiere this Thursday, September 17, exclusively on Netflix.
