Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener, The Kite Runner, Volver, Exodus: Gods and Kings, Parallel Mothers, The Room Next Door, The Skin I Live In) has recently scored the upcoming Italian/French/Spanish romantic comedy drama It Will Happen Tonight (Succederà Questa Notte). The film is written and directed by Nanni Moretti (The Son’s Room, Sweet Dreams) and stars Louis Garrel, Jasmine Trinca, Hippolyte Girardot, Angela Finocchiaro, Elena Lietti, Melina Åkerman, Andrea Lattanzi and Antonio De Matteo. The movie is loosely based on the short story collection Hungry Heart (Lev Raev) by Eshkol Nevo and explores the missed connections of a man and a womana man whose lives repeatedly intersect over several years after a fleeting initial encounter. Moretti also co-wrote the screenplay with Federica Pontremoli (A Brighter Tomorrow, Three Floors) and Valia Santella (The Traitor, Honey) and is producing the project with Domenico Procacci (Gomorrah, We Have a Pope). It Will Happen Tonight will premiere this weekend at the 2026 Venice Film Festival and is scheduled to be released in Italian and Spanish theaters this December. No word yet on a domestic distribution deal.
Iglesias’ other recent scoring projects include Pedro Almodóvar’s Bitter Christmas, which opened in Spanish theaters this past March and is set to be released in U.S. theaters on November 25.
