Composer Dascha Dauenhauer (Berlin Alexanderplatz, Islands, The Swarm, 22 Lanes, Blood Red Sky, A Million Minutes, Bliss, Souls) is reteaming with director Guy Nattiv (Skin) on the upcoming drama The Liberation. The film is co-written (with Noa Berman Herzberg) and directed by Nattiv and stars Carrie Coon, Lily James, Bella Ramsey, Tracy Letts, Odessa Young and Jaime Ray Newman. The movie is inspired by the true story of the director’s grandmother whose humdrum day-to-day life is upended by a mysterious and entrancing young woman offering the promise of escape to something better.

Nattiv & Newman are also producing the Sight Unseen, New Native, Spooky Pictures & Image Nation production with Julia Lebedev & Eddie Vaisman (Bad Education, Rental Family) and Oren Moverman (Rampart, Time Out of Mind). Dauenhauer has previously scored Nattiv’s last two features, Golda & Tatami. The Liberation is expected to premiere at this year’s Telluride Film Festival and will also screen at the Toronto International Film Festival before being released in theaters on January 8, 2027 by Bleecker Street following an awards-qualifying run in late 2026.
