Mychael Danna (MoneyballGirl, Interrupted, CapoteLittle Miss Sunshine, The Good Dinosaur, The Addams Family, Onward) has signed on to score the upcoming period drama Gold Mountain. The film is directed by Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and stars Chedi Chang, Sophia Xu, Yao, Zine Tseng and Owen Teague. The movie based on C. Pam Zhang’s novel How Much of These Hills Is Gold is set during the dying embers of the American Gold Rush and follows two newly orphaned Chinese immigrant children as they traverse a hostile California frontier to bury their father and free themselves from their past. Chang-Rae Lee wrote the screenplay. Anthony Lee is also producing the project with Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher) & Peter Cron (Power Ballad, Flora & Son), The Ink Factory’s Simon & Stephen Cornwell (The Night Manager, A Most Wanted Man), as well as Gregory Goodman (X-Men: First Class, Civil War). Danna has previously scored Lee’s features The Ice Storm, Ride with the Devil, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk and Life of Pi, for which he received his first Academy Award. Gold Mountain is currently shooting in Northern California. (Deadline)
