Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the romantic comedy You, Me & Tuscany directed by Kat Coiro and starring  Halle Bailey, Regé-Jean Page, Isabella Ferrari, Marco Calvani, Aziza Scott, Lorenzo de Moor and Nia Vardalos. The film’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the ChristIron Man 2, ElfThe Jungle Book, The Emperor’s New Groove,Hocus Pocus, Horizon: An American SagaLiar Liar, Cutthroat Island). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the horror feature Faces of Death co-written and directed by Daniel Goldhaber and starring Barbie Ferreira, Dacre Montgomery, Josie Totah, Aaron Holliday, Jermaine Fowler and Charli XCX. Gavin Brivik (The PittWild IndianBarron’s CoveMinor Premise, Sender, The Seventh Day, Living Undocumented) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score is in the works. Also opening wide is the Australian sports drama Beast directed by Tyler Atkins and starring Daniel MacPherson, Russell Crowe, Luke Hemsworth, Bren Foster,  Kelly Gale, Mojean Aria and Amy Shark. The film’s original music is composed by Brian Cachia (The Osiris Child, Better Watch Out, Bloody HellInfiniTerminusBlood Vessel, Ocean Boy). The composer will release a soundtrack album featuring his score soon. Opening semi-wide this weekend in a couple of hundred U.S. theaters is the Japanese psychological horror thriller Exit 8 co-written and directed by Genki Kawamura and starring Kazunari Ninomiya, Yamato Kochi, Nana Komatsu, Naru Asanuma and Kotone Hanase. Songwriter/music producer/DJ Yasutaka Nakata and Shohei Amimori have composed the film’s original music. Sony  Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the artists’ score last summer when the movie opened in Japan. Also opening semi-wide this weekend is the found footage horror feature Hunting Matthew Nichols written and directed by Markian Tarasiuk and starring Miranda MacDougall, Tarasiuk himself and Ryan Alexander McDonald. The film’s original music is composed by Duophonik (Christopher King + Jeff Griffiths). The composers have released a soundtrack album featuring their score this past January. Also opening in a few hundred theaters this weekend is the drama Newborn written and directed by Nate Parker and starring David Oyelowo, Olivia Washington, Barry Pepper and Jimmie Fails. Anthony Willis (Wuthering Heights, Saltburn, M3GANPromising Young Woman, How to Train Your Dragon: HomecomingViolent Ends) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which tells the story of a man who seeks to rebuild his life and reconnect with his family after serving seven years in solitary confinement, was completed several years ago (and was originally entitled Solitary) and is being released exclusively in AMC theaters.

Also opening in a couple of hundred U.S. theaters is the British drama Hamlet directed by Aneil Karia and starring Riz Ahmed, Morfydd Clark, Joe Alwyn, Timothy Spall, Sheeba Chaddha, Avijitt Dutt and Art Malik. The film’s original music is composed by Maxwell Sterling (A Girl Like Grace, Straight Circle). No soundtrack album has been released. The movie is based on Shakespeare’s classic of the same title is set in present-day London’s South Asian community and follows the title character as he returns for his father’s funeral and is stunned to discover his uncle is marrying his newly widowed mother. The drama premiered at last year’s Telluride Film Festival and is being released stateside by Vertical.

Opening in New York and Los Angeles this weekend before expanding nationwide next Friday, April 17, is the British comedy The Christophers directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Michaela Coel, Ian McKellen, James Corden and Jessica Gunning. David Holmes (Ocean’s Eleven, Killing Eve, Out of Sight, Black Bag, Haywire, Hunger, Logan Lucky, Analyze That, No Sudden Move, MarloweDiane) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announce yet. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the Italian western Heads or Tails? (Testa o Croce?) co-written and directed by Alessio Rigo de Righi & Matteo Zoppis and starring Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Alessandro Borghi, John C. Reilly, Peter Lanzani, Mirko Artuso, Gabriele Silli and Gianni Garko. The film’s original score is composed by Vittorio Giampietro (The Tale of King CrabThe Land of WomenIl complottista). Folkgang Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last fall when the movie opened in Italy and also just released a digital single featuring the original song Birdie by Giampietro & Reilly earlier this week. Opening in select theaters today while also premiering on Apple TV is the comedy Outcome co-written and directed by Jonah Hill and starring Keanu Reeves, Hill himself, Cameron Diaz, Matt Bomer, Martin Scorsese, David Spade, Roy Wood Jr.,Laverne Cox, Kaia Gerber, Atsuko Okatsuka, Susan Lucci and Ivy Wolk. Jon Brion (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless MindLady Bird, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, The Other Guys, Paranormal,  Trainwreck) has composed the film’s original music.
