Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish comedy drama Bitter Christmas (Amarga Navidad). Thew album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Alberto Iglesias (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener, Volver, The Kite Runner, Parallel Mothers, Exodus: Gods and Kings, The Room Next Door, The Skin I Live In). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out the track list. Also listen to the composer’s end credits track after the jump. A CD version is expected to be announced soon. Bitter Christmas is written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar and stars Bárbara Lennie, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, Milena Smit, Carmen Machi and Rossy de Palma. The movie follows an advertising director who doesn’t give herself time to mourn her mother’s absence after her death and decides to travel to the island of Lanzarote accompanied by her friend. The dramedy is opening in Spanish theaters today. Sony Pictures Classics has picked up domestic distribution rights for a release in U.S. theaters later this year.
