Composer Chris Benstead is reteaming with director Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) on the upcoming action thriller In the Grey. The film is written and directed by Ritchie and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Rosamund Pike, Kristofer Hivju, Emmet J. Scanlan, Michael Vu, Jason Wong, Fisher Stevens and Carlos Bardem. The movie follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the global shadows who is sent to retrieve a billion-dollar fortune stolen by a ruthless despot on what would be for anyone else a suicide mission. Ritchie is also producing the project with John Friedberg (Ferrari, Shelter), Dave Caplan (Longlegs, The Monkey) and Ivan Atkinson (MobLand, The Diamond Heist). Benstead has previously scored Ritchie’s last six features, The Gentlemen , Wrath of Man, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, The Covenant, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre and The Fountain of Youth. In the Grey will be released in theaters nationwide on May 15, 2026 by Black Bear Pictures.
Benstead has also recently scored the Ritchie-produced/directed Prime Video series Young Sherlock, which just premiered last week and will also return to score the second season of Netflix’s The Gentlemen TV series.
