Oliver Coates (AftersunMary & George, The History of Sound, 100 Nights of HeroFoe, Occupied City, The StrangerSignificant Other).has provided the original score for the upcoming Swiss/British drama Frank & Louis. The film is written and directed by Petra Volpe (Late Shift, The Divine Order) and stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rob Morgan, Rosalind Eleazar, René Pérez Joglar and Indira Varma. The movie follows a man serving a life sentence who takes a prison job caring for aging inmates with Alzheimer’s and dementia and forms a transformative bond with a fellow inmate, offering him a glimpse of redemption in an unforgiving place. Volpe also co-wrote the screenplay with Esther Bernstorff (Molly’s Way, 4 Kings). Reto Schaerli (Golden Years, My Wonderful Wanda) and Lukas Hobi (Heidi, When We Were Sisters) are producing the project. Frank & Louis is premiering this month at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Coates’ other recent projects include Harry Lighton’s Pillion, which premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters on February 6 by A24.
