Carrying Colour will release a soundtrack album for the British/Nigerian drama My Father’s Shadow. The album features the film’s original music composed by Duval Timothy and CJ Mirra (A Banquet, HI-Surf, Nascondino, Make or Break, Kidnapped). The soundtrack will be released digitally on February 6 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A first track (Journey to Lagos) is already available to stream/download as a digital single now. My Father’s Shadow is co-written and directed by Akinola Davies Jr. and stars Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Godwin Egbo and Chibuike Marvellous Egbo. The movie, which was selected as UK’s submission in the International Feature category, for this year’s Academy Awards, is framed by the political landscape of 1993 Lagos and follows a father and his two young sons as they journey into the Nigerian metropolis, quietly reckoning with their relationship while navigating a city on the precipice of democratic crisis. The drama, which premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, opened in Nigeria last September and will be released in select U.S. (and UK) theaters on February 6 by MUBI.
