Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama Sarah’s Oil. The album features the film’s original score composed by Kathryn Bostic (Clemency, Women of the Movement, The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat, Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, December 3 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the composer’s first track below. The label has previously released the original song The Gift co-written and performed by Tamar Braxton last month. Sarah’s Oil is co-written and directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh and stars Zachary Levi, Naya Desir-Johnson, Sonequa Martin-Green, Garret Dillahunt, Mel Rodriguez, Bridget Regan and Kenric Green. The movie tells the story of an African American girl born in the early 1900s who believes there is oil beneath the land she’s allotted and must turn to her family and some wildcatters to maintain control of her land. The drama was released in theaters nationwide last month by Amazon MGM Studios and is coming out on VOD today.
