Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, Layer Cake, Still Alice, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, The Young Victoria, Kick-Ass) has provided the original score for the upcoming British romantic period thriller Desperate Journey. The film is directed by Annabel Jankel (Tell It to the Bees, Super Mario Bros.) and stars Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen, Clara Rugaard, Til Schweiger, Fernando Guallar and Steven Berkoff. The movie tells the story of a young Jewish man who is forced to flee Vienna as the Nazis invade and finds finds unexpected refuge in a lavish burlesque club in 1940s Paris. Michael Radford (The Postman, The Merchant of Venice) and Alfred Christian wrote the screenplay. Warren Derosa (St. George’s Days) and Zsófia Kende (Pleasant Days) are producing the Emblem Pictures production. Desperate Journey will be released in UK theaters on November 28. No word yet on a domestic release.
Eshkeri’s other recent projects include Netflix’s House of Guinness, which just premiered last month, as well as Jonathan Kent’s Long Day’s Journey Into Night, which premiered at this year’s Dublin International Film Festival & Glasgow Film Festival and is currently awaiting a release date. He is also expected to return to co-score the second season of Paramount+’s MobLand.
