Rob Lane (John Adams, A Discovery of Witches, Merlin, The Winter King, The Damned United, Atlantis, Beowulf) has composed the original score for the new Channel 5 original drama The Rumour. The show is written by Giula Sandler (The House Across the Street) based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Lesley Kara and stars Rachel Shenton, Emily Atack, Joanne Whalley, Samuel Anderson, Lucy Speed, Ellie Haddington, Carryl Thomas, Liza Sadovy, Alex Waldmann, Tamzin Griffin and Okezie Morro. The 5-part thriller follows a woman who moves to a quiet town of with her young son for a fresh start, when she discovers a disturbing rumor about a convicted child killer hiding in plain sight and seizes the chance to bond with the local mums by sharing it – unknowingly unleashing a wave of paranoia and suspicion. Sandler is also executive producing the project with Cuba Pictures’ Dixie Linder (McMafia, Chemistry of Death) & Nick Marston (Boy A, Broken), Clapperboard’s Rachel Gesua, Suzi McIntosh & Mike Benson (The Teacher, The Game), as well as Paul Testar and Sebastian Cardwell (All Creatures Great & Small). The Rumour is premiering in the UK today on Channel 5.
