Music producer Rob Ellis (best known for his work with PJ Harvey) & Adrian Utley (of the electronic band Portishead) have teamed up to compose the original music for the upcoming British documentary Broken English. The film is directed by Jane Pollard & Iain Forsyth (20,000 Days on Earth, Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories) and stars Tilda Swinton, George MacKay, Calvin Demba, Zawe Ashton and Sophia Di Martino. The movie is being described as a “portrait of the inimitable singer, songwriter and icon Marianne Faithfull.” Pollard & Forsyth also co-wrote the screenplay with Ian Martin. They are also producing the project for Phantoscopic, alongside Rustic Canyon Pictures’ Beth Earl (Under the Sky of Damascus). Broken English will premiere this coming weekend at the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
