Polydor Records will release a new soundtrack album for the 1984 mockumentary/comedy This Is Spinal Tap co-written and directed by Rob Reiner and starring trio Christopher Guest, Michael McKean & Harry Shearer as the members of the fictional rock band Spinal Tap. The album features the band’s songs from the movie, newly remastered by Bernie Grundman from the soundtrack’s original stereo analog master tapes, and will be released on September 5. A new (remixed, restored and remastered) 4K version of This Is Spinal Tap opened in U.S. theaters earlier this month (ahead of the release of the film’s sequel in September) and will be released in a new box set as part of the Criterion Collection on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on September 16.The new version of the comedy will also available on VOD soon.
