Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Neighbors, Bridesmaids, Freaks & Geeks, Daddy’s Home, Piece by Piece, Bad Teacher, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Funny People) has composed the original music for the upcoming thriller American Sweatshop. The film is directed by Uta Briesewitz (The Wheel of Time) and stars Lili Reinhart, Daniela Melchior, Jeremy Ang Jones, Tim Plester, Josh Whitehouse, Christiane Paul and Joel Fry. The movie follows a young woman dealing with a chaotic personal life who finds herself sucked into the underbelly of the internet and – together with a motley group of coworkers – toils in a cottage industry of agencies that evaluate harmful videos and pictures uploaded to social media.Matthew Nemeth (Lady-Like) wrote the screenplay. Briesewitz is also producing the project with Anita Elsani (55 Steps, Operation Napoleon), Jason Sosnoff (The Survivor, The Humbling), Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Good Morning Vietnam) and Tom Fontana (City on a Hill, Monsieur Spade). American Sweatshop will premiere this month at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival.
Andrews’ other upcoming projects include the second season of the Apple TV+ series Platonic, which is expected to premiere this year.
